Diagnosis before Knee Replacement Surgery

Your knee replacement doctor may recommend you to undergo a few tests that may help the specialist determine the severity of the damage and decide a proper treatment for the damaged knee. The diagnostic tests include physical examination like examining the tenderness and swelling, the specialist may also try to move them forward and backward to understand the sequence of pain. Procedures of Knee Replacement Operation

Not every injury that occurs to the knee needs to undergo keyhole knee replacement surgery. There are three types of knee surgeries namely: Partial keyhole knee surgery, Total knee replacement surgery, and Arthroscopic surgery.

Partial Keyhole Surgery Knee: In this procedure usually the surgeon only replaces the damaged parts of the joint with the prosthetic composed of plastic and metal. This procedure does not involve major risks and usually through small incisions and recovery is quick compared to other methods.

Total Knee Replacement Operation: This is a medical procedure where the whole damaged knee joint is replaced with high-grade material and alloys.  The kneecap, shinbone along cartilage is removed in this procedure.

Arthroscopic Keyhole Knee Surgery: Arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure where a tiny incision is made through which a tiny instrument called an arthroscope is inserted which helps the specialist to get a detailed view of the knee which can help in the removal of damaged parts of the knee.
